Registration or My Worst Nightmare?

Registering for classes at A&M is a huge deal. I'm talkin certain days and certain times for certain people, depending on your class year, what college you are in, and what major you are in that college, if you are taking honors classes, if you are a part time worker, if you are an athlete, and probably what color hair you have I don't know. The point is it is rediculous. My registration date is April 26 at 7 AM. Yep 7 in the MORNING! Why is it necessary for me to sign up for classes at that time. I would wait until later, but if you don't register at your exact time then your classes may fill up and you may not get to take anything that you want or need. Registration started this past week, meaning that I am registering pretty much last for my classes. What this means folks, is that by the time I get to register, all of the good classes, professors, and times will be full and I'll be stuck with Mr. I Don't Speak English at 8 in the morning every day.

Yes, that is me in the 8 AM class mentioned above. Doesn't it seem so fun?? Anyways, I don't understand why signing up for classes that you need has to be so hard. All I want to do is take my classes, and become a teacher. Doesn't seem like such a hard request to me, but its an act of congress to make it happen at this school. And don't even get me started on changing majors! Okay, well since I'm already started I'll elaborate. I started out wanting to be a physical therapist, so I was a Kinesiology major. I quickly decided that "working out" and "training" and "being in shape" just wasn't for me so I decided to change my major to education. Well turns out you have to apply for the education degree plan. Go figure. So I say no problem, I'll apply. Wrong. Transfer students have to stay in their original major one semester before they can change. Okay no problem. Wrong again, because since I had to apply for the education major in the Spring semester I won't be accepted until fall of 2010, making me a "closet" kines major, and I can't change into general studies because I have too many hours for this college. This is a huge deal apparently because I've had to go see my advisor about 5 or 6 times over it, and each time its the same conversation. "Stacey, you can't be a kines major and take classes for education." "Yes, Christina, I know but there's nothing I can do about it because I've applied and can't be accepted until the summer." "Okay well there's a certain date that you will have to be out of this college." "Great, I'll be out as soon as I can." JEEZ!! So I have submitted my application, but since I am still not technically an education major I won't be allowed to sign up for half of the classes I will need next semester because those classes are for majors only. Talk about frustrating! Now I realize not everybody has this many problems with registering, but the whole thing seems pretty rediculous. Just let me take my classes and graduate already! Maybe I should become a movie star. That seems a lot easier. Well wish me luck registering this Monday, because I know it will end in an all out fist fight with my computer. Lots of luck to all my fellow A&M registers..don't let the system get you down!

Stass out!
