My Life Is So Glamorous

I spent my weekend jetsetting across the United States. And when I say across the United States, I mean a few states up and over to Colorado. Vail, Colorado to be exact. My mother and I vacationed to this swanky spot for our family friend's wedding. It was my very first time to fly and to go to Colorado so I was very excited! We arrived in Vail Thursday night after being delayed for an hour at the Dallas airport. I know my cousins were jealous of my trip, so I'm positive they had some part in the conspiracy to keep me out of Colorado. Jerks. We ate at Russel's Steak House that night for dinner and then went to Mickey's piano bar afterwards to enjoy some jazz and drinks. Because we are fancy like that.Too early Friday morning, Lisa and I woke up and met up with our new friends, Page and Sonya to go white water rafting. A very rad, surfer looking dude named Scott picked us up from our hotel and drove us 30 minutes to Timberline Rafting's headquarters. We were suited up with splash jackets, life jackets, helmets, booties, and paddles. For all you haters out there that make fun of the size of my head I would like you all to know I wore a medium sized helmet. I won't mention what size my mom wore, as that would more than likely embarrass her. Hey bigger heads mean bigger brains, right mom? We cruised along the Colorado river for about 3 hours before coming to our final destination and a BBQ cookout. The scenery was absolutely beautiful! I highly recommend rafting at some point in your life, don't be a chicken.
Friday night was the rehearsal dinner. It was so nice! The food was delicious, the decorations were so pretty, and there was an open bar, not that I participated in using it but I know that everybody else there was truly enjoying the free liquor. The only snag in the evening was when the bride's mother gave a toast that lasted and lasted and lasted and lasted..you get the point. I won't judge her because I know she was excited about her daughter getting married, but when everybody's eyes start to get that glazed over look, its time to stop talking. Saturday morning we woke up early, once again, and took the gondola to the top of the mountain. I know I sound like a broken record, but it was a beautiful view! I really have never seen anything like it. We took tons of pictures and then headed back down the mountain, where we did some shopping in all the little boutiques. The area we were in was designed to look like a Swedish village so everything was very cute. I felt very fancy and important all weekend just being there. We bought some cute fleece jackets, t-shirts, coffee mugs, and of course a surprise for Easton. After enjoying some marble slab ice cream we headed back to the hotel to start primping for the wedding.
The wedding was beautiful, of course. The ceremony was short and sweet, just like I like them. The reception was awesome. We had assigned tables with place cards (woah) and fancy schmancy place settings with about 100 utencils. I had no idea which ones to use when, I probably looked so uneducated! We had lamb for dinner, which I will never eat again. I guess some people like eating completely raw food, but not me. The band was awesome and everybody danced all night long, even my mother how embarrassing! After several of Dave's attempts to set me up with two not so attractive guys, and eating way too much wedding cake it was time to wish the bride and groom off! Instead of rice or birdseed they had sparklers, which I thought was really cool. It was a truly "magical" night as my mom's friend Teresa would say.
We headed back to Texas and to reality Sunday morning. It was an awesome weekend! I love weddings, food, Vail, mountains, my mom, rafts, and no humidity. I would go back in a heart beat. Oh and a little fun fact, hardly anything in Colorado is air conditioned! For example, our hotel, restaraunts, and wedding chapel had no air conditioning! Good thing it was relatively cool during the days.

I love all of you, my faithful blog readers!

Nice to meet you, Alex

No I am not referring to some new, hot guy that I met and fell in love with. I am talking about tropical storm Alex. It was a hurricane, but according to channel 13's weather forecast I just watched at 7:59 AM it has downgraded to a tropical storm. What a wimp. If you are going to ruin my work schedule and weekend with your rain I say go all out, be a man, be a hurricane. Today is a depressing day for this storm to hit. It was supposed to be our last day of swim lessons for our 2nd session. We were supposed to be done! Instead, we will have to work again tomorrow, if the weather is better that is. I love my job, but I need a break from the boogers and kicks in the stomach and scratches on my arms. Yeah, bet you didn't know teaching kids to swim was so violent. On a bright note, I do have fun plans for the 4th of July weekend. Of course it will be probably be raining the entire time, but I will not let it get me down! My very best friend Bryce (yes he is a boy and he is just a friend, deal with it) and his family rented a bay house for the weekend and me and Emily are going to stay with them. The plan is to fish, go to the beach, tan, eat, and fish some more. Bryce is determined to turn me into a pro fishergirl by the end of the weekend. I'm not even kidding when I say that he has asked me to come over for "casting lessons" everyday this week, AND he read an article about taking girls fishing. Obviously, I have not participated in any casting lessons because that is just dumb, and as for the fishing article well, I don't think anything will prepare Bryce for what he's getting himself into by taking Emily and I fishing. I have the attention span of a 5 year old and Emily is probably the dumbest person in the world. And I say that with love. All I'm sayin is if I don't catch a fish I will be real mad. Like someone will have a hook to the face and be pushed in the water mad. There are some fireworks to enjoy just in case the weather prevents you from seeing them this weekend. Or in case your life isn't as great as mine and you don't have anywhere to watch a spectacular light show like this.

One last thing. I got the text yesterday welcoming baby Colin James McDavid to the world. I am so excited for KK, Dax, and big brother Reese! Bailey did us all a favor and posted pics of Colin and the happy family on facebook, and I must say he is precious. I can't wait to meet him!

Have a happy 4th of July, America. And stay dry!
